HVAC Maintenance Technician – Popeyes RestaurantsLocations Hiring: Florence, AL | Gurley, AL | Birmingham, AL | Montgomery, AL | Roswell / Alpharetta, GAPopeyes is looking for a reliable and experienced HVAC Maintenance Technician to join our in-house maintenance team. This position will focus primarily on preventive maintenance, inspections, cleaning, and routine service of restaurant HVAC and refrigeration systems across multiple locations.The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, understands commercial rooftop HVAC and refrigeration equipment, and takes a proactive approach to identifying potential problems before they become costly repairs or restaurant disruptions.Responsibilities Include:Rooftop HVAC / Air ConditioningPerform scheduled preventive maintenance on commercial rooftop HVAC unitsInspect HVAC units, electrical components, motors, belts, fans, coils, drains, and other components for proper operationClean condenser and evaporator coils as part of routine PM serviceCheck refrigerant systems and identify signs of leaks or performance issuesInspect and clean condensate drains and pansInspect blower motors, fan assemblies, belts, bearings, and other moving componentsCheck thermostats and controls for proper operationInspect ductwork, dampers, vents, and registersReplace HVAC filters according to the required monthly service schedulePerform seasonal tune-ups and general HVAC inspectionsIdentify equipment showing signs of failure and report recommended repairs or replacement needsMaintain accurate records of completed PM services and equipment conditionsRestaurant RefrigerationPerform routine maintenance and inspections on walk-in coolers and freezersInspect and clean condenser coils and evaporator coilsCheck evaporator fans, condenser fans, motors, and other refrigeration componentsInspect door gaskets, hinges, closers, and door sweeps for proper sealingCheck temperature operation and identify units that are not maintaining proper temperaturesInspect defrost systems, drains, drain lines, and condensate componentsClean and maintain accessible refrigeration componentsIdentify frost buildup, icing, water leaks, unusual noises, or other signs of potential equipment problemsPerform routine maintenance on reach-in coolers, freezers, prep coolers, and other indoor refrigeration equipmentInspect the indoor components of walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer systemsGeneral Preventive MaintenanceComplete scheduled monthly PM services at assigned restaurant locationsPerform routine equipment inspections and document findingsIdentify minor issues before they develop into emergency repairsMaintain clean and organized HVAC/refrigeration work areasKeep tools, equipment, and service supplies properly maintainedCommunicate equipment issues and recommended repairs to managementCoordinate with outside HVAC/refrigeration vendors when repairs require specialized serviceMaintain accurate service records, including filters changed, coils cleaned, inspections completed, and repairs recommendedPerform facility walk-throughs to identify HVAC, refrigeration, or temperature-related concernsQualifications:Commercial HVAC and/or refrigeration experience requiredExperience servicing rooftop HVAC units and restaurant refrigeration equipment preferredKnowledge of preventive maintenance procedures and commercial HVAC systemsAbility to diagnose basic HVAC/refrigeration issues and recognize when specialized repair is neededFamiliarity with coils, filters, motors, fans, belts, thermostats, condensate systems, refrigeration components, and electrical controlsAbility to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and HVAC service equipmentAbility to lift up to 50 lbs and work on rooftops, ladders, and in confined areasEPA certification preferred/required as applicable to the work performedDependable, organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independentlyValid driver's license and reliable transportationAbility to travel between multiple restaurant locationsWhy Join Us:Competitive pay based on experienceSteady, year-round work with an established restaurant groupConsistent preventive maintenance scheduleOpportunity to work primarily on maintaining and improving equipment rather than responding only to emergency breakdownsIn-house position with the ability to build familiarity with the equipment and locations you serviceSupportive team environmentIf you have commercial HVAC/refrigeration experience and take pride in keeping equipment clean, properly maintained, and operating reliably, we'd love to have you on our team.Apply today and help keep our Popeyes restaurants comfortable, properly refrigerated, and running smoothly.
