    HVAC maintenance technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and sometimes refrigeration systems in residential settings.

    Key responsibilities typically include:

    • Installing HVAC systems and components, such as compressors, motors, fuel and water supply lines, air ducts, and often refrigeration units.
    • Maintaining and repairing equipment, including performing routine inspections, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, cleaning, adjusting, and replacing parts as needed.
    • Diagnosing system malfunctions and performing emergency repairs efficiently.
    • Ensuring system compliance with safety and appliance standards, local codes, and regulations.
    • Communicating with managers and tenants to explain issues, propose maintenance tips, and recommend upgrades or replacements.
    • Keeping accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and service calls.
    • Managing inventory of tools and equipment and ordering replacement parts as needed.
    • Staying current with new HVAC technologies and standards.

    Typical requirements for the role:

    • High school diploma or GED
    • Specialized HVAC training or certification (e.g., EPA Universal)
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Good troubleshooting and mechanical skills
    • Ability to work in confined spaces and lift heavy equipment
    • Strong communication and customer service skills
    • Flexibility to work after hours, weekends, or holidays
