Job Title: General Maintenance Worker - FLSA: Nonexempt HVAC Helper Pay Grade: Auxiliary 2 Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Leadership Team Calendar Days: 256

Dept./School: Maintenance Department Revised: 4.7.2025 Under the supervision of an HVAC technician, the HVAC Helper supports the repair, installation, and maintenance of heating and air conditioning systems throughout the district, ensuring their safe and efficient operation in district facilities. Education/Certification:

• High school diploma from an accredited high school or GED
• Valid Texas Driver's License
• Eligible for coverage under the district's vehicle insurance program Special Knowledge/Skills:
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
• Knowledge of basic building components related to HVAC systems
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material
• Ability to use hand and power tools
• Ability to follow written and verbal instruction
• Ability to measure and perform mathematical calculations
• Ability to work independently
• Knowledge of state and local building codes
• Ability to direct and supervise personnel
• Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Maintenance and Repair
  1. Assemble, install, and repair various HVAC related items throughout the district
  2. Receive and complete work orders. Respond to emergency calls as needed
  3. Maintain accurate records on material and labor used
  4. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean and excess materials are removed as needed
  5. Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials Safety
  6. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition
  7. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures
