Full-Time | Field-Based | Salary + Performance Commission

Position Summary

One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning is seeking an experienced HVAC Field Training & Technical Supervisor to develop apprentices and strengthen our service team's technical capabilities. This is a hands-on field position-not an office or remote role. Work consists of ride-alongs, live field coaching, technical troubleshooting, apprentice evaluation, and truck/inventory inspections. The focus is technical excellence and developing competent, independent service technicians.

Responsibilities

• Field Training & Support: Conduct regular ride-alongs with apprentices and technicians. Teach systematic troubleshooting, root-cause diagnosis, and how to prove a diagnosis. Serve as the primary technical escalation resource via phone, video, and on-site support.

• Technical Instruction: Train team members in preventive maintenance, no-cool/no-heat diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, motors, capacitors, contactors, controls, compressors, refrigerant diagnostics (superheat/subcooling), leak detection, airflow/static pressure, furnaces, heat pumps, thermostats, condensate/drainage, IAQ, and diagnostic tools.

• Structured Training: Conduct weekly hands-on training sessions every Monday and Thursday combining instruction, troubleshooting exercises, and field examples.

• Evaluation & Progression: Assess apprentice readiness for advancement based on demonstrated competency. Document deficiencies, provide corrective coaching, and report progress to management.

• Truck & Inventory: Perform routine truck inspections to verify required stocking levels, inventory organization, and professional standards.

Schedule & Compensation

• Schedule: Full-time, 5 days/week (mostly field-based). Mondays & Thursdays include structured technical training. Weekend responsibility includes on-call technical phone support.

• Pay: Weekly Salary + Performance Commission (opportunity to earn 5% of qualifying revenue generated by assigned apprentices).

• Company Provides: Vehicle, gas card, tablet, and training resources. (Employee provides professional HVAC tools and diagnostic equipment).

Qualifications

• Required: 7-10+ years residential HVAC field experience; strong electrical/refrigeration diagnostic skills; EPA Universal Certification; applicable TDLR registration/license; valid driver's license with clean driving record; strong teaching and communication skills.

• Preferred: NATE certification; Lead Tech, Field Supervisor, or HVAC Trainer experience; Texas HVAC Contractor License.
