Description

The Field Technician I is an entry-level position within Clients Field & Product Services organization designed for an HVAC technician with approximately 1–2 years of field experience who demonstrates strong technical potential, troubleshooting ability, professionalism, and a desire to learn.

This position will perform and support field activities including equipment startup and commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, corrective service, equipment upgrades, inspections, and other technical activities associated with Blue Frontier systems.

We do not expect a Field Technician I to arrive knowing everything about clients technology. We do expect the successful candidate to have strong HVAC fundamentals, mechanical aptitude, curiosity, and the ability to learn quickly.

The ideal candidate enjoys understanding how equipment works, approaches problems methodically, communicates clearly, takes pride in quality workmanship, and demonstrates a high level of personal integrity.

Field Technician I employees will receive ongoing product and technical training and will work alongside more experienced technicians, Engineering personnel, and service partners as they develop toward higher levels of technical responsibility.

This position is based in Boca Raton, Florida, and requires up to 60% travel to customer sites, project locations, commissioning activities, training events, service-partner locations, and other operations. Travel may include overnight and multi-day assignments based on deployment and service requirements.

Job Responsibilities

Field Service & Maintenance
·   Perform and assist with preventive maintenance, inspections, corrective service, and equipment repairs on systems.

·   Support equipment startup, commissioning, and post-installation activities.

·   Perform basic and intermediate troubleshooting of HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, controls, and hydronic systems within the technician's level of training and qualification.

·   Follow established diagnostic procedures and use available technical resources before replacing components or escalating issues.

·   Assist senior technicians with complex troubleshooting and repairs.

·   Verify proper equipment operation following maintenance or repair activities.

·   Maintain clean, organized, and professional work areas at customer sites.

·   Properly care for company-issued tools, test instruments, equipment, vehicles, computers, phones, and other company assets.

Troubleshooting & Technical Development
·   Approach technical problems logically and methodically.

·   Gather relevant operating information, measurements, alarms, and observations before determining corrective action.

·   Use electrical meters, pressure and temperature instruments, hand tools, and other appropriate HVAC diagnostic equipment.

·   Learn to interpret electrical diagrams, mechanical drawings, control sequences, technical manuals, and service documentation.

·   Work with senior technicians and remote technical resources to identify root causes and appropriate corrective actions.

·   Develop an understanding of Blue Frontier equipment, controls, refrigeration systems, hydronic systems, dehumidification technology, and related components.

·   Apply lessons learned from previous service events to improve future troubleshooting effectiveness.

·   Demonstrate steady progression toward increased technical independence and responsibility.

Training & Continuous Learning
·   Actively participate in  technical and product training programs.

·   Complete assigned technical training, safety training, digital workflows, and competency assessments.

·   Demonstrate curiosity and willingness to learn unfamiliar equipment and technologies.

·   Accept coaching and technical feedback from supervisors, senior technicians, Engineering, and other technical resources.

·   Maintain and expand commercial HVAC knowledge through hands-on experience, formal training, and independent learning.

·   Work toward applicable industry certifications and higher  technician competency levels.

·   Share relevant field observations and lessons learned with other team members.

Documentation & Digital Workflows
·   Accurately document field activities, observations, measurements, troubleshooting steps, repairs, and final equipment condition.

·   Complete required digital service workflows, service tickets, photographs, and field documentation in a timely manner.

·   Use  field service technology platforms, including XOi, Salesforce Service Cloud, remote monitoring tools, and other digital systems as assigned.

·   Communicate clearly with supervisors and technical support when field conditions differ from expected conditions.

·   Ensure service documentation provides sufficient information for another technician or engineer to understand what was observed and what work was performed.

Safety
·   Follow all r safety policies, customer-site requirements, and applicable industry safety practices.

·   Properly use required personal protective equipment.

·   Follow applicable electrical safety, refrigerant handling, lockout/tagout, ladder, lifting, and other safe-work procedures.

·   Maintain an orderly and safe work environment.

·   Immediately communicate unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses, or concerns to the appropriate supervisor.

·   Exercise stop-work authority whenever an unsafe condition exists.

·   Never perform work for which the technician has not been properly trained, qualified, or authorized.

Customer Experience & Professionalism
·   Represent professionally at all times.

·   Communicate respectfully and clearly with customers, contractors, service partners, and fellow employees.

·   Maintain a professional appearance and appropriate conduct while at customer locations.
