    HVAC Field Service Operations Supervisor

    A day in the life

    You start the morning in Portland with quick check-ins and a safety huddle for Field Service Technicians and Lead Service Technicians. You review the day’s schedule, rebalance resources to cover urgent calls, and confirm pre-job plans are in place. A glance at performance dashboards shows yesterday’s productivity, service quality, and documentation accuracy—notes are captured for coaching moments.

    By mid-morning, you’re on-site for a ride-along, observing work practices, reinforcing safety standards, and offering real-time technical guidance. An escalated customer question comes in; you resolve it professionally and adjust the schedule so a complex startup receives the advanced expertise it needs—yours. Back at the office, you align with Service Leadership, Sales, and Administrative teams on upcoming work and logistics, then meet with Equipment Sales to plan execution strategies for projects on the horizon.

    Afternoon includes reviewing technician reports, ensuring consistent, high-quality notes and timely submission. You verify tooling and service vehicle inventory status and plan corrective actions where needed. Before you wrap, you log performance feedback, finalize training recommendations, and note certification goals for team members. The day closes with the team set up for success tomorrow—safely, efficiently, and in full alignment with company standards and customer expectations.

    Core scope of the role

    • Lead daily field operations: Guide and hold accountable Field Service and Lead Service Technicians; balance workforce planning and resource allocation to meet customer and operational commitments.
    • Elevate performance and safety: Conduct safety meetings and field observations; ensure adherence to company and regulatory standards; drive continuous improvement through coaching, training, goal-setting, and certification support.
    • Develop the team: Identify skill gaps with Lead Service Technicians; coordinate training; review work reports for timeliness, completeness, and clarity; improve communication and documentation quality.
    • Strengthen customer relationships: Resolve escalations quickly and professionally; improve service delivery and workforce utilization; collaborate closely with Service Leadership, Sales, and Administrative partners.
    • Align on projects: Meet regularly with Equipment Sales to review upcoming work, plan execution, and synchronize objectives.
    • Be the technical backbone: Provide hands-on training and expert field support; perform complex startups, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance; serve as an emergency backup during staffing shortages or high-priority events.
    • Own readiness: Audit and maintain tooling, equipment, and service vehicle inventory.

    What you need to succeed

    • Proven leadership of field service teams in HVAC or related mechanical systems.
    • Expert troubleshooting for complex equipment; comfortable stepping in on high-stakes calls.
    • Strong scheduler/resource planner with a track record of safe, efficient execution.
    • Excellent communicator who coaches, conducts reviews, and elevates documentation quality.
    • Collaborative mindset across Service Leadership, Sales, Equipment Sales, and Admin teams.
    • EPA certification is mandatory.
