    Primary Purpose:

    As the Public Relations & Marketing Specialist, you'll uncover the stories that deserve to be told and bring them to life through video, photography, graphic design, social media, websites, and strategic communications. Your work helps inform, inspire, celebrate, and strengthen the connection between HEB ISD and the communities we serve.

    You'll work directly with the Coordinator of Public Relations & Marketing. Their job isn't to micromanage you. It's to coach you, challenge you, remove roadblocks, celebrate your wins, and help you create work that makes people stop, watch, and remember HEB ISD. You'll also collaborate with principals, teachers, district leaders, students, and community partners to tell stories that matter and showcase the impact of public education.

    Experience:

    We're looking for someone with experience in:

    • Video production and editing experience required
    • Social media experience required
    • Website & accessibility experience preferred
    • One to three years of experience in communications, marketing, or related fields is preferred
    • Alternatives, as determined by the District

    Experience working in education is a plus, but a passion for telling meaningful stories matters just as much.

    Major Responsibilities and Duties:

    Video & Graphic Design

    Tell stories that people remember.

    Whether you're filming in a Pre-K classroom, producing a districtwide campaign, photographing Friday night lights, or creating graphics for Convocation, your work will help people experience HEB ISD long before they ever walk through our doors. You'll transform everyday moments into stories worth sharing.

    • Assist with the creation of videos, electronic and print publications, graphics, and other marketing materials that support district goals.
    • Manage creative projects from concept through completion, including research, planning, design, implementation, and evaluation.
    • Capture photography, video, and stories from campuses, district events, and community activities.
    • Edit photographs and video for use across district communication platforms.
    • Collaborate with principals, teachers, district departments, and staff to identify and share compelling stories.
    • Coordinate with outside vendors, including graphic designers, printers, photographers, and videographers, as approved.

    Website & Social Media

    For many families, the first interaction they have with HEB ISD happens online. Whether they're visiting our website, scrolling through social media, or watching a video, they're forming an impression of our district. You'll help ensure every digital experience reflects the excellence, innovation, and sense of community that define HEB ISD.

    • Assist with maintaining official district, department, and campus websites.
    • Support campuses and departments through website training, troubleshooting, and account management.
    • Assist with maintaining official district and campus social media platforms.
    • Create and schedule engaging social media content that informs, celebrates, and connects our community.
    • Review and manage website and social media requests submitted by employees and stakeholders.
    • Ensure digital communications meet accessibility standards for all audiences.

    General Public Relations & Marketing

    No two days look the same, and that's exactly why this job is exciting.

    One morning you might be filming kindergarten students discovering the joy of reading. That afternoon you could be interviewing a state champion. The next day you may be helping launch a districtwide initiative or supporting one of our largest community events.

    You'll collaborate with departments, campuses, district leadership, students, families, and community partners to make sure the best stories don't go untold.

    • Collaborate with department team members to support district communication goals.
    • Participate in department initiatives including Wellbeing at Work, Student Ambassadors, Adopt-a-School, VIPS/Volunteers, Convocation, and other district events.
    • Maintain consistent use of district and campus brand standards.
    • Develop communication strategies that meet the needs of both internal and external audiences.
    • Attend community meetings, activities, and special events in support of district goals.
    • Stay current with industry trends through research, professional development, conferences, and training.
    • Maintain confidentiality regarding district matters.
    • Support district goals while following all district policies and procedures.
    • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
    • Successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
    • Seek continuous improvement in processes, creativity, and communication.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
