Collect, document and critically analyze statistical information and program metrics, including program presentations, revenue and expenditures, mailing lists, and documentation of curriculum to assist in program evaluation and better direct resources to more efficiently achieve the goals of the Humane Education program and the mission of The Humane Society of Tampa Bay. Description
Manage a team of humane education, part-time staff and volunteers.
Recruit camp counselors for programs and work with schools and students to ensure success of these programs.
Work with advancement team to meet budget goals and further develop humane education families.
Run all humane education programs (critter camp, paws for literacy, pets & tots, all school programs).
Consistently and appropriately represent the mission, goals and philosophy of The Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
Create, plan, staff and evaluate education programs that incorporate a variety of learning methodologies, that are audience and age appropriate and that are applicable to the needs of the community.
Participate in teaching and conducting classes in order to develop new programs, test curriculums, train staff and/or implement new standards in program design, content and objectives.

Remain current with progressive education methodology, animal welfare issues and trends and child development issues and trends
Ensure that the Chief Advancement Officer is briefed on all aspects of progress, needs, issues, and successes of the Humane Education program; provide analysis for efficiencies and improvements

Participate in management staff meetings and planning sessions
Work with Advancement team in obtaining funding for education programs; provide information for grant proposals and participate in presentations to potential donors
Assist with special projects and events as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
BS or BA degree in education, science, or related field; teaching experience with grades K-8
Knowledge of, interest and belief in humane issues required; previous experience working in the animal welfare field preferred.
Demonstrated experience with developing curriculum for and presenting educational programs to school-aged children; knowledge of current educational trends.
Previous experience with public outreach; experience working with school administrators, educators and civic groups preferred.
Experience with/knowledge of animal behavior, training and handling preferred.
Experience working with and managing volunteers preferred.
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
Must have technology skills – word processing; spreadsheets; database; electronic presentation; social media; internet navigation, etc.
Must be highly organized, motivated, reliable, and able to multi-task and work well with a minimum of supervision.
Must be able to handle all situations calmly and efficiently.
Must possess the ability to convey a professional image, as well as represent the mission, goals and philosophy of The Humane Society of Tampa Bay in its relationship with the community.
Must have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with students, staff, media, public school administrators and educators to perform the functions listed above.
