Overview:
IAT is seeking a Human Subjects Research Support Specialist to support the NSA Research Directorate’s Human Research Protection Program (HRPP). The Specialist will be responsible for assisting with completing and tracking necessary documentation and review processes to ensure that research activities follow best practices and comply with ethical, regulatory, and legal requirements..
Specific Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates knowledge of applicable Federal, state, and local regulations.
- Demonstrates subject matter expertise in human research protections, research funding, and the responsible research conduct. Demonstrates knowledge of applicable Federal, state, and local regulations
- Notifies Research Teams of IRB review after actions, in concert with the IRB Chair.
- Provides technical assistance with the maintenance and version control of the Human Research Protection Program and IRB policies and procedures.
- Notifies IRB members of required meeting attendance and review assignments. (
- Provides technical assistance to develop and maintain paper and electronic systems required to support the Human Research Protection Program, IRB, and Committee functions.
- Ensures that Human Research Protection Program resources are utilized and maintained.
- Develops and distributes IRB meeting agendas and meeting minutes. Documents and tracks IRB action items to closure.
- Provides technical support to IRB meetings.
- Provides technical recommendations regarding routine matters related to the protection of human subjects for the Research Directorate (RD). (
- Provides technical recommendations to researchers regarding human subject research documentation and process issues with respect to routine IRB requirements. (
- Provides technical recommendations and support to advance the development of IRB educational materials, IRB orientation activities and training activities. (
- Provides technical assistance with the development, documentation and revision of Human Research Protection Program and IRB policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Provides technical support to IRB and IRB Subcommittee review activities.
- Provides technical support to IRB review and approval activities. (U) Provides technical support to IRB regulatory review activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of Human Research Protection Program experience supporting either an Institutional Review Board (IRB) or a Human Protections Administrator (HPA).
Security Clearance Requirement:
- Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to sensitive or classified information. TS/SCI w/Full Scope Poly required.
