We are seeking an engaging and student-centered Human Services Instructor who is committed to excellence in teaching and dedicated to helping students develop the knowledge, skills, and professional values necessary for successful careers in human services. This position is part of the Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Growth Plus Community College (PRODiG+CC) program. This is an initiative supported by SUNY system committed to: (1) increasing the number and share of excellent diverse community college faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion; (2) strengthening the pipeline for retention and support of these candidates; and (3) hiring qualified faculty directly into tenure-track positions to support the community colleges' efforts to build an educated workforce in the state.

The start date of this position will be January 8, 2027, for the beginning of the Spring 2027 semester. The successful candidate will be required to work only 162 days per academic year (August - May) and will be provided with a winter break from mid-December to early January, a Spring Break for one week in mid-March. Faculty are not required to work in June, July, and most of August, but opportunities for teaching summer classes exist.

In addition to the base salary, there is the potential for overload and other assignments, which would increase the base salary. There is also a pathway for promotion to higher-level salary positions (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor).

Typical Work Activities

• Teach courses in the delivery format agreed upon (on campus, hybrid, blended, or online)
• Hold office hours (in person on campus or virtual as appropriate)
• Track attendance
• Complete census reports
• Report on student learning outcomes at the end of the semester
• Report grades at the conclusion of the semester
• Participate in student recruitment
• Apply for grants and solicit other resources
• Develop and maintain transfer program articulation agreements
• Maintain subject matter currency
• Develop and revise the program's curriculum
• Use computer technology, including classroom technology and the College's learning management system
• Assess course and program learning outcomes
• Advise students in the program and train advisors who help with students in the program
• Contribute meaningfully and regularly to departmental/divisional meetings, task forces, and activities
• Participate in college and discipline-specific professional activities
• Cooperate with SUNY 4-year institutions as it pertains to curriculum coordination, as well as student transfers
• Complete other duties as assigned

Essential Functions

Ability to navigate relationships with a diverse population, Ability to work with and teach a diverse student population. Ability to advise students for classes, transfer options, and career advice in the field. Ability to be an active member in the division and serve on committees representing the division. Ability to speak in front of groups of people. Must be able to effectively communicate with students, co-workers, supervisors, and the campus community. Must be able to develop, prepare, and present information. Must be able to operate computers. Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position.

Required Qualifications

• Be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship;
• Have a Master's degree in social work, counseling, rehabilitative services, or a related field from an accredited institution completed prior to the state date; and
• Demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, an academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work, volunteer/ unpaid/community service; or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/or populations.

Desirable Qualifications

• LMSW or LCSW State License,
• Doctorate of Social Work,
• Prior teaching experience at the college level or experience with classroom technologies.

Preference will be given to candidates who are:

• Current SUNY students, alumni and/or Fellows
• From a low-income background (e.g. Pell-eligible as undergraduates), were first-generation college students (students whose parents have not earned a bachelor's degree), have overcome adversity, are AmeriCorps alumni, or are veterans.
