Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Department for People Operations, Success, and Opportunity consolidates three previously independent units responsible for administering personnel-related processes and programs into one unit to reimagine and redesign the university's people services and strategies. Central to ECU's strategic priority for workforce success and building a culture of care, belonging, and opportunity for all campus constituencies, the Department provides leadership to the university's innovative and dynamic efforts to recruit, retain, develop, and support a thriving workforce and foster an equal opportunity learning and working environment. Compliance and personnel matters administered by this unit are governed by federal and state laws, regulations, statutes, and policies including but not limited to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972; the Equal Pay Act of 1963, as amended; the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, as amended; the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended; the Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974, as amended (VEVRAA); the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as amended; the N.C. General Statutes 126-16, as amended; the UNC Policy Manual, and The Code of the University of North Carolina. The Department for People Operations, Success, and Opportunity plays a crucial role in coordinating institutional compliance and implementing compliant processes and practices.
Primary Purpose of Position
This position reports to the Director for the Care and Solutions Center, and may serve as the first point of contact for POSO, managing incoming calls, emails, and walk-ins. This position provides case management support for the Care and Solutions Center; and ensures efficient intake, accurate information gathering, and timely resolution or triaging of cases to support smooth POSO operations. This role assists former and current employees with leave information certification regarding prior state service and processing those service requests. This role is also the primary processor for all incoming personal observance leave and community service leave balance entries and processing. This position provides general support related to ADA Accommodations, as well as the use and maintenance of the POSO knowledge based article database. This position also supports university leave processing to include bereavement leave, civil leave and voluntary shared leave. This position will support university departments with leave policy questions pertaining to Office of State Human Resource policy, University of North Carolina System Policy, as well as university policy.
Minimum Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
