Human Resource Specialist
The Dallastown Area School District is searching for a highly motivated Human Resource Specialist to join our team. This is a full-time, 12-month position.
Working out of the district administrative office, the HR Specialist provides comprehensive support for the human resource function, with a specific focus on the recruitment, selection and onboarding of qualified candidates.
- Assist the Director of Human Resources in administering a comprehensive human resources employment plan in accordance with applicable law, Board policy and best practices.
- Coordinate the recruitment, selection and interview processes for assigned vacant positions. This includes management of the Frontline recruitment software, screening applicants communicating with hiring managers and interviewing as needed.
- Coordinate and deliver a comprehensive onboarding process for new employees.
- Ensure employee data is entered consistently, accurately and timely into the CSIU financial system, Frontline attendance management system and PA-ETEP.
- Oversee and maintain the operation of the contracted substitute teacher service provider.
- Oversee the administration of the District's leave of absence policies and procedures for all employee groups, including absences eligible for FMLA.
- Prepare personnel recommendations concerning all such personnel matters, including, but not limited to, the hiring of new personnel, resignations, terminations, leaves of absences, salary increases, and changes in assignment for Board approval.
- Assist with the development of personnel-related policies, administrative regulations and best practices.
- Maintain and update as necessary employee handbooks, policies and administrative regulations in an appropriate format.
- Coordinate and prepare various statistical and census reports and surveys concerning salaries, benefits, certification, and staff characteristics as necessary.
- Maintain personnel records to ensure a confidential, comprehensive, efficient, accurate, and current record of all matters pertaining to an individual's employment with the district.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or business-related field preferred.
3-5 Years expereince working in a human resource capacity and/or equivalent experience preferred
Public education setting is highly preferred
Working knowledge of state employment laws, FMLA administration are required.
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity and working knowledge of Human Resource software and systems.
The position hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., along with immediate participation in the PSERS pension program, paid holidays and leave (vacation, personal and sick), and eligibility for medical, dental, vision and life insurance benefits.
