Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

The Human Resources Service Center of Excellence (SCE) serves approximately 2,000 staff within the Division of Finance and Operations (F&O) and the Division of Institutional Integrity and Risk Management (IIRM), a combined organization whose annual budget is more than $500 million. The HR SCE has a campus-wide impact through functions that include classification and compensation, salary administration, recruitment, onboarding and separations, benefits and leave administration, policy and procedure administration, employee and management relations, and reporting and data management for the F&O Division and Institutional Integrity & Risk Management.

Position Summary

Hybrid: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

This position will provide professional human resources services to the Service Center for Excellence (SCE) for the Division of Finance and Operations (F&O), Institutional Integrity and Risk Management (IIRM), and designated other units of the University. These divisions include approximately 2,000 employees with an overall budget of more than $500 million.

The HR Specialist functions as a departmental liaison in HR services for both SHRA and EHRA Non-Faculty employees to better streamline HR shared services for the Division. This position performs core HR functions for employees in designated departments, including recruitment and onboarding, classification and compensation, and payroll/leave/benefits administration.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Management Preferences

Strong customer service background and previous human resources experience preferred. Experience with Kronos timekeeping, PeopleAdmin recruitment, ConnectCarolina/PeopleSoft, LawLogix, and InfoPorte systems also preferred.
