We are looking for an HR Manager to support our Human Resources department. You will act as the first point of contact for HR-related queries from employees and management. Your main duties include ensuring an engaging working environment and promoting our Corporate Culture, maintaining internal databases and administering government reporting. This role is an "active" position, i.e., you will not only be overseeing the HR team but performing the duties of your team when needed.

Main Functions

  • Oversee the hiring process, i.e., job postings, background check processing, orientation & onboarding
  • Lead the compliance and processing of employee disciplinary issues, investigations, employee concerns and complaints
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and labor laws, including FMLA, PFML, HIPPA, EEOC within the multiple states of business.
  • Document and maintain government reporting to include annual Affirmative Action Plans and EEOC reporting
  • Work with the HSE and Leave Specialist on the administration of worker's compensation issues, tracking, and maintaining files
  • Develop, Implement and maintain company policies and procedures
  • Collect and analyze HR data and recommend updates/changes to Leadership
  • Prepare internal employee communications regarding compensation, benefits, or company policies.
  • Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the HR field.
  • Oversee open enrollment meetings and quarterly insurance broker meetings
  • Support HR team when on PTO or leave.
  • Learn, maintain and operate all processes associated with the position including paperwork and scheduling
  • Maintain a team environment with other employees and departments
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

Travel

  • Less than 20%

Education and Experience Requirements

  • 3-5 years of human resource management experience, bachelor's degree preferred; a combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of education
  • SPHR or PHR preferred
  • HRIS experience- Paycom helpful
  • MS Office proficiency: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Positive attitude, team player, friendly, and approachable.
  • Able to help build morale and increase retention
  • Organized and the ability to think outside the box
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Familiarity with local, state and federal employment laws.
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required to perform a wide variety of tasks.
  • This is a local position reporting to the Portland corporate office.

Working Conditions

  • Majority of work conducted in office environment. May be required to drive in inclement weather.
  • Work schedule will vary and may include work on evenings, weekends and holidays due to special events, inclement weather, and other projects.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
  • May lift, bend, stoop, pick up and move objects up to 25 lbs.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
  • Requires some activity involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases.
