Human Resources Manager


Terms of Employment: Full-time, 52 weeks, 37.5 hours per week. Hours vary and may include evening and weekend hours as determined by the College.
Classification: Leadership Plan.
Annual Salary: $65,000 - $70,000 based on skills, qualifications, and experience.
FLSA Status: Salary/Exempt.

Job Summary: The Human Resources Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating employment, staffing functions and training. These responsibilities include oversight of recruitment, advertisement, staff/faculty qualification review, oversight of and participation in interviews, employment contract and offer execution, and hiring of minors.

Responsibilities:

  • Support HR compliance efforts by formulating, improving and administering programs, policies, practices and processes associated with meeting legal requirements and supporting institutional goals.
  • Assist in organizing, directing, and evaluating the institution's human resource functions and performance.
  • Remain current on recent federal and state law changes, monitoring updates that affect human resources.
  • Manage recruitment and hiring process to include conducting interviews and overseeing onboarding process ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and employment laws.
  • Lead the execution and completion of employee evaluation programs.
  • Oversee employee separation process and return of college equipment.
  • Develop, coordinate and administer training and development activities, including new employee orientation.
  • Complete HR reporting initiatives including Michigan New Hire and DOL reporting.
  • Serve as lead for online recruiting software.
  • Act as Deputy Title IX Coordinator.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received: This position reports to the Executive Director of Human Resources and Compliance.

Supervision Given: Provide supervision to the HR staff.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or related field from an accredited college or university required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible human resources and leadership experience reasonably related to the assignment.
