Temp-to-Perm | Four-Day Hybrid Work Week
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on HR Manager to lead and support day-to-day human resources operations in a dynamic work environment. This is a working leader role responsible for both strategic HR support and the execution of core HR processes, including payroll, benefits, employee relations, investigations, leave management, compensation, and HRIS administration.
The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable and approachable HR professional who can independently manage sensitive employee matters, partner effectively with leadership, and ensure accurate, compliant, and employee-focused HR practices. This position is initially temporary with the opportunity to transition to a permanent role based on performance and business needs.

Key Responsibilities
HR Operations and Leadership
- Serve as the primary HR partner and subject-matter resource for employees, managers, and leadership.
- Lead and execute day-to-day HR operations while balancing hands-on responsibilities with leadership and business partnership.
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective HR policies, procedures, and practices.
- Ensure HR processes are consistently applied and aligned with company policies and applicable employment laws.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee and business information.
Payroll and Benefits
- Oversee and support accurate, timely payroll processing in partnership with payroll and finance teams.
- Review payroll information, including hours, deductions, bonuses, changes in compensation, and employee status updates.
- Administer employee benefit programs and serve as a resource for employee questions.
- Support benefits enrollment, changes, vendor coordination, and issue resolution.
- Maintain accurate employee records related to payroll, benefits, and employment status.
Employee Relations and Investigations
- Provide guidance to managers and employees regarding workplace concerns, performance issues, policy interpretation, and conflict resolution.
- Lead and document employee relations investigations, including gathering information, conducting interviews, evaluating facts, and preparing recommendations.
- Address employee concerns fairly, consistently, and confidentially.
- Support performance management, corrective action, coaching, and disciplinary processes.
- Identify workplace trends and recommend solutions to improve employee engagement and organizational effectiveness.
Leave Management and Compliance
- Manage and administer employee leave programs, including statutory, company-sponsored, medical, disability, and other applicable leaves.
- Track leave requests, documentation, approvals, return-to-work processes, and related communications.
- Ensure leave practices are administered consistently and in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
- Maintain accurate leave records and coordinate with payroll, benefits providers, and managers as needed.
- Stay current on employment law and HR compliance requirements affecting the organization.
Compensation
- Support compensation administration, including salary changes, job evaluations, promotions, bonuses, and market reviews.
- Partner with leadership to promote consistent and equitable compensation practices.
- Maintain accurate compensation records and assist with compensation-related analysis and reporting.
- Provide guidance to managers regarding compensation processes and internal policies.
HRIS Administration
- Serve as the primary HRIS administrator for Paycom.
- Maintain accurate employee data, organizational information, job changes, compensation information, benefits, payroll data, and reporting structures in Paycom.
- Create and maintain HR reports and ensure data integrity.
- Support system updates, workflow improvements, employee self-service, and troubleshooting.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes through effective use of the HRIS.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Five or more years of progressive HR experience, including employee relations and HR operations.
- Experience in a hands-on HR Manager or HR Generalist leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience managing employee relations matters and conducting workplace investigations.
- Strong knowledge of payroll, benefits, leave management, compensation, and employment practices.
- Experience administering Paycom or a comparable HRIS; Paycom experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Excellent communication, organization, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion.
- Ability to work independently while effectively partnering with leaders and cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
- Experience supporting a multi-state workforce.
- Experience in a temp-to-permanent or evolving organizational environment.
- Demonstrated ability to improve HR processes and build effective employee programs.
Success in This Role
Success in this role will require a practical, service-oriented HR leader who can confidently manage daily HR responsibilities, advise managers, resolve employee concerns, maintain accurate records, and improve HR processes while building trust across the organization.
