Description

Careerscape is recruiting on behalf of our client, a professional services company based in State College, Pennsylvania, seeking a Human Resources Intern to join their HR team for a structured semester or summer engagement. This internship is designed to give candidates direct exposure to core HR functions in a real business environment, not a passive observation role.

The intern will work alongside experienced HR generalists and support day-to-day operations including recruiting coordination, onboarding administration, employee records management, and compliance tracking. The team handles HR for multiple business units, so the intern will gain a broad view of how HR functions across an organization of roughly 300 employees.

This is a hybrid position with a minimum of three on-site days per week at the State College office. Students currently enrolled in an HR, Business Administration, Psychology, or related program are encouraged to apply. Academic credit arrangements can be supported upon request.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with posting job openings and screening incoming applications
  • Schedule and coordinate candidate interviews with hiring managers
  • Support the onboarding process for new hires including document collection and system setup
  • Maintain and update employee records in the HRIS platform
  • Help prepare materials for employee training and orientation sessions
  • Conduct research on compensation benchmarks and HR best practices
  • Draft internal communications and HR policy summaries
  • Assist with compliance tracking and audit preparation tasks

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during the internship period
  • Prior coursework in HR management, organizational behavior, or labor relations is a plus
