Human Resources Generalist
Merlin Law Group is a national law firm dedicated to advocating for policyholders in first-party property insurance matters. We are seeking a hands-on Human Resources Generalist to support our day-to-day HR operations.
Position Overview
This hands-on role is central to the day-to-day success of the HR department, with responsibility for employee records, onboarding, benefits, timekeeping, HRIS administration, and employee support. You will also contribute to recruiting by sourcing and interviewing candidates, support compliance initiatives, and gain meaningful exposure to employee relations. The ideal candidate enjoys detailed work, takes ownership, and wants to grow into more complex HR responsibilities over time.
Key Responsibilities
Respond to routine employee questions regarding policies, time off, benefits, payroll, timekeeping, and HR systems.
Maintain accurate HRIS data, personnel files, reports, and recurring HR documentation.
Support timecard review, payroll preparation, benefits administration, invoice review, and issue resolution.
Coordinate onboarding and offboarding, including new-hire communications, employment forms, I-9 and E-Verify, benefit eligibility, and separation documentation.
Manage assigned recruiting activities, including job postings, sourcing, resume review, initial interviews, recommendations, background checks, and interview coordination.
Support compliance, policy administration, performance documentation, employee relations, and HR projects under the direction of the HR Director.
Research HR questions, verify information, and recommend solutions while recognizing when escalation is appropriate.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• At least 5 years of hands-on human resources experience, preferably supporting a multistate workforce.
• Experience with HR administration, recruiting, onboarding, benefits, HRIS records, and compliance support.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, communication, judgment, follow-through, and ability to work independently.
• Experience with UKG Ready or a comparable HRIS preferred; PHR or SHRM-CP certification is a plus.
