Human Resources Generalist

Northern NJ / NYC Area | Hybrid (Remote + On-Site Client Visits)

About the Role

As an HR Generalist with Kustom HR, a growing fractional HR consulting firm, you'll partner with experienced HR professionals to support a diverse portfolio of clients across multiple industries. You'll gain hands-on experience across all facets of human resources—including recruiting, employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, payroll support, and day-to-day HR operations—while delivering exceptional service and building trusted relationships with our clients.

Key Responsibilities Human Resources:

  • Facilitate new hire onboarding and employee orientation.
  • Maintain client employee personnel files and HRIS records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Support employee relations by addressing routine HR inquiries and escalating complex issues as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
  • Assist with policy development, handbook updates, and HR documentation.
  • Prepare HR reports, metrics, and other administrative documentation.
  • Support compliance activities, audits, and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Assist with payroll processing for multiple clients by collecting, reviewing, and validating payroll information.
  • Review employee timekeeping records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Process new hires, employee status changes, terminations, and payroll adjustments.
  • Support payroll audits and reconcile discrepancies before payroll submission.
  • Coordinate with internal payroll specialists to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Maintain payroll records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with applicable wage and hour laws.
  • Respond to client payroll inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 2–4 years of Human Resources Generalist or similar experience required.
  • Payroll experience is a strong plus.
  • Working knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and payroll processes.
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Salary Range: $60,000 – $90,000 annually (commensurate with experience)

Payroll Support:

·       Assist with year-end payroll activities and related reporting as needed.

Qualifications

·       Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
