    Position Summary

    The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting key HR functions with a primary focus on employee relations, leave administration, and employee benefits. This role partners with managers and employees to ensure compliance with employment laws, promote a positive workplace culture, and deliver exceptional HR support throughout the employee lifecycle.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Employee Relations

    • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee relations matters, providing guidance on workplace policies, procedures, and conflict resolution.
    • Conduct workplace investigations and recommend appropriate resolutions.
    • Partner with managers to address performance concerns, disciplinary actions, and employee engagement initiatives.
    • Foster a positive work environment through effective communication and employee support.

    Leave of Absence Administration (FMLA, ADA, and Other Leaves)

    • Administer Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodations, and other federal, state, and company leave programs.
    • Coordinate leave requests, maintain required documentation, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
    • Communicate with employees, managers, healthcare providers, and third-party administrators regarding leave status and return-to-work processes.
    • Track leave utilization and maintain accurate records.

    Help as needed in the following areas:

    • Workers Compensation
    • Benefits enrollment, administration, education of benefits provided
    • Compliance and HR Administration

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
    • 3-5 years of Human Resources experience with emphasis in employee relations, leave administration, workers'' compensation, and benefits.
    • Experience in the transportation industry is a plus.
    • Strong knowledge of FMLA, ADA, workers'' compensation regulations, COBRA, HIPAA, and other employment laws.
    • Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality.
    • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is preferred.
    • Must possess, or be able to obtain and maintain, a valid Commercial Driver''s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements as a condition of employment.

    Additional Requirements

    The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Driver''s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements. This requirement supports the organization''s operational needs and may include operating company vehicles when necessary. Experience in the transportation industry is highly desirable.
