HR Generalist Direct Hire
Location: Ashland, MA Fully on site
Hours: 7:30am- 4:00pm Monday- Friday
Salary range: $67,500- $69,000
Position Overview
We are seeking an organized, people-focused HR Generalist to support our growing team of 42 employees. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on across the full employee lifecycle-from compliance and payroll support to benefits administration and employee engagement. The HR Generalist will serve as a trusted resource for employees and leadership while ensuring accurate records, compliance, and a positive workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Records & Compliance
- Maintain and update employee personnel files (digital and physical)
- Manage I-9 completion, verification, and audits
- Ensure compliance with state and federal employment requirements
- Organize and maintain HR documentation and records
Payroll Support
- Administer payroll through Paychex
- Process payroll updates, corrections, and address payroll-related issues
- Serve as a liaison with Paychex for employee changes and troubleshooting
Benefits Administration
- Support employee benefits administration, including medical plans through Blue Cross
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits questions
- Coordinate with HRC for FSA support and employee inquiries
Employee Relations & Performance Support
- Document coaching conversations and employee relations matters
- Support managers with performance documentation and employee issues
- Assist with workers' compensation claims and coordination as needed
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Coordinate and celebrate employee birthdays and work anniversaries
- Support employee engagement initiatives and internal communications
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in Human Resources or a related role
- Working knowledge of payroll systems (experience with Paychex preferred)
- Understanding of HR compliance, I-9s, and state employment regulations
- Experience supporting benefits administration and employee inquiries
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
Preferred Experience
- HR experience in a small organization or growing company
- Familiarity with Blue Cross benefits plans
- Experience with workers' compensation processes
