W. R. Grace is looking for an HR Generalist for our chemical manufacturing facility in Curtis Bay, MD that will provide comprehensive human resources support while serving as a primary contact for plant personnel while being a partner to site leadership. This role is responsible for driving daily HR operations with a strong focus on union labor relations.

Responsibilities

  • Full-Lifecycle Recruitment & Onboardin Lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention initiatives for plant personnel to build a skilled, stable workforce.
  • Employee Relations & Conflict Resolution: Support employee relations by conducting thorough investigations, resolving conflicts promptly, and serving as a trusted advisor on conduct, capability, and grievance matters.
  • Labor & Union Collaboration: Attend monthly union meetings, document official meeting minutes, and support constructive labor-management relations.
  • Leadership Coaching & Policy Guidance: Provide daily coaching and counsel to employees, supervisors, and managers on company policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Employment Law & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations across all plant operations.
  • Performance & Absence Management: Partner with leadership to address performance issues, manage attendance and health-related leave, and drive organizational change initiatives.
  • HR Data & Metrics Analytics: Gather and analyze key HR metrics—such as time-to-hire and turnover rates—to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
  • Cross-Functional Administrative Trackin Collaborate with administrative teams to ensure accurate tracking of job progressions, proper job code assignments, and seamless personnel updates.
  • Employee Engagement & Culture: Enhance employee satisfaction and morale by resolving issues quickly, assisting with perks/benefits administration, and organizing team-building activities.
  • Records Management & HR Ownership: Maintain accurate electronic and paper employee files while operating with a high degree of ownership, independence, and accountability.

Physical Requirements and Environment

  • Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field required
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience
  • Knowledge of FLSA, HIPAA, Title VII, and other applicable laws.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook/Powerpoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Successfactors, SAP and Kronos
  • Comprehensive knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all sensitive personnel, payroll, and medical data in compliance with company policy and legal guidelines
  • Proven problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability work independently and part of a team
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks
