 About the role

Solar Energy Solutions is one of the fastest-growing renewable energy companies in the region — and our people are the reason why. As we scale across Virginia, we're looking for a Human Resources Manager to lead hiring and build the people foundation for one of our fastest-growing markets.

This is a hands-on leadership role, not a back-office one. Hiring is the top priority: you'll own how we attract, recruit, and onboard the field and office talent that keeps the region growing. Just as important, you'll be the on-the-ground people leader for a region that already has a strong sales team but is still building out local management — setting the tone for culture, employee relations, and what it feels like to work here as we grow. You'll partner closely with regional and company leadership, with real ownership to shape how HR and people operations are done here, not just execute a playbook someone else wrote.

What you'll own

•      Lead hiring for the region (the priority). Build sourcing pipelines, run interviews, and own onboarding at the volume and speed a fast-scaling market demands — across both field and office roles.

•      Be a people leader on the ground. Provide a stable, trusted management presence for employees and managers in a rapidly growing region.

•      Build and protect the culture. Set the tone for a positive, inclusive workplace as the team grows, partnering closely with the regional team and company leadership.

•      Own employee relations. Serve as the go-to contact for HR policy, questions, and concerns across field and office staff, handling sensitive matters with sound judgment.

•      Support performance and development. Run reviews, coach managers, and help employees grow.

•      Keep us compliant. Maintain accurate, compliant employee records and ensure local practices align with Virginia and federal employment law and company policy.

•      Stay ahead of the curve. Track employment legislation and HR best practices, and recommend changes to keep SES ahead of compliance requirements.

What we're looking for

•      5+ years of progressive HR experience, including people-management or HR leadership responsibility

•      A track record of building or scaling recruiting in a high-growth environment

•      Experience supporting a distributed, multi-site workforce — or genuine comfort operating independently as the senior HR presence in a region

•      Solid working knowledge of employment law, HR policy, and procedure (Virginia experience a plus)

•      Strong interpersonal, communication, and judgment skills, especially with confidential and sensitive matters

•      Excellent organization and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment

•      Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field — or equivalent experience

•      Construction, skilled trades, or renewable energy background a plus

•      Ability to wear multiple hats in a rapidly growing company

•      Genuine interest in the mission: building the clean energy workforce of the mid-Atlantic
