Job Summary
The HR Generalist plays a key role in supporting and executing core HR functions including employee relations, talent acquisition, compliance, performance management, and organizational development. This role ensures HR practices are consistent, legally compliant, and aligned with company culture and values. Critical to the success of this role are exemplary communication skills and ability to support a culturally diverse workforce of 1,200 exempt and non-exempt employees. Additionally, this role will partner with the HR Manager and business leaders to build strategic partnerships that align HR initiatives with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Support the New Hire Onboarding process including, but not limited to:
    • Assist with I-9 documentation
    • Assist with E-Verify
    • Conduct I-9 audits
    • Management of document uploads to Document Manager in UKG
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues; conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Partner with management to facilitate performance management processes including coaching, progressive discipline, and performance improvement plans.
  • Support recruiting efforts including job postings, candidate screening, and interviewing.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
  • Administer and interpret policies related to compensation, benefits, and leave management.
  • Effectively create and maintain critical reports for management.
  • Mentor HR staff and support cross-functional HR projects as needed.
  • Be responsible for knowledge of day-to-day employee relations activities within our plant including employee engagement and retention activities.
  • Support the HR Manager in organizing and retrieving records, reports, and policies.
  • Lead the termination process, including preparing documentation, conducting exit meetings, and maintaining records.
  • Provide support to the HR Manager in other assigned projects as needed.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or related field OR equivalent work history.
  • 3-5 years of HR experience in a manufacturing environment; strong preference towards food manufacturing/processing.
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations, labor and employee regulations, and benefits.
  • Bi-lingual (speaking, reading, and writing). Fluency in Spanish, French, Creole & Karenni is highly preferred.
  • Solid working knowledge of computer skills with experience in Windows-based PCs and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to travel up to % in the United States.
  • Ability to work onsite and work hours contingent with business needs.
