    Human Resources Assistant

    Summary of Position
    Reports to the designated human resources officer, the position will have the responsibility of assisting with administration of the day-to-day operations of the human resources functions and duties. The position will perform duties in some or all of the following functional areas: recruitment, payroll preparation, HRIS, time and attendance, employee relations, benefits, compensation, and new employee onboarding.

    Essential Functions:
    1. Assist human resources manager with day to day operations of the department.
    2. Assist with the hiring process as needed including posting jobs, reviewing applications, assisting hiring managers, performing credit and background checks, and arranging pre-employment drug screens.
    3. Responsible for the onboarding of new hires and completion of all required paperwork.
    4. Maintains data in HRIS for employee benefits, rate of pay and employment status.
    5. Assist with timely submission of payroll data for processing of semi-monthly and monthly payroll.
    6. Maintain employee files in a confidential and secure manner.
    7. Assist with employee orientation, development and recordkeeping.
    8. Explain company personnel policies, benefits, and procedures to employees or job applicants.
    9. Provide assistance in administering employee benefit programs and worker's compensation plans.
    10. Review and pay monthly benefit bills.
    11. Perform general office duties such as filing, answering telephones, and handling routine correspondence.
    12. Assist with various special projects as needed.
    13. Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations
    14. It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within their capabilities as determined by management.

    Education and Experience Requirements:
    High school diploma or equivalent required. Two years of progressively responsible human resources, recruitment, benefits administration, or payroll related experience preferred. Must be proficient with Microsoft family of programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). The position interacts with all levels of the organization and must possess excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills both oral and written. Ability to maintain confidentiality is critical. Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, banking, and the reporting of financial data preferred.
