    About the Role

    Pathways to Life is seeking a detail-oriented and personable entry-level HR Specialist to join our HR Department. This role works closely with and provides general support to the HR Director, and assists the Recruiter as needed, helping the department run more efficiently by handling day-to-day HR tasks. It's a great opportunity for someone early in their HR career to gain broad, hands-on experience across the full range of HR functions.

    What You'll Do
    • Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to the HR Director

    • Help process hiring-related paperwork and maintain accurate employee records in HR systems

    • Support new employee orientations 

    • Assist with maintaining and updating HR documents such as employee handbooks, organizational charts, and performance evaluation forms

    • Support exit interviews and help complete related termination paperwork

    • Assist with reference and background checks on job applicants

    • Help compile and organize employment-related data for reports

    • Learn and stay current on Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), ADA, and other applicable employment laws

    • Take on additional HR projects and tasks as assigned to help improve department efficiency

    Requirements
    • Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field

    • 1–3 years of experience in Human Resources (internships or coursework-related experience considered)

    • Active, unrestricted driver's license

    • Willingness to learn HRIS/HR software platforms

    Preferred Qualifications
    • PHR or SHRM-CP certification

    • Working knowledge of employment law, including FMLA, ADA, and EEO regulations

    Work Environment
    • Full-time, 40 hours/week, in-office

    • Frequent use of email, phone, and face-to-face communication

    • Daily contact with employees, applicants, and outside contacts

    • Fast-paced environment requiring accuracy, discretion, and strong interpersonal skills
