We are seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager with proven experience and ability to identify, reduce and prevent incidents and will own and drive continuous improvement for a manufacturing plant.
This Plant HSE Manager provides leadership and coordination of activities related to the company’s health, safety, and environmental program, including performance of the following essential duties:
- Developing and maintaining a variety of safety and environmental programs, policies and procedures that will ensure all associates are in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
- Developing and implementing a program to reduce occupational injuries and illnesses, including area assessments, injury investigations and clear, measurable goals.
- Correcting working conditions, using knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, psychology, and safety standards, develops loss control programs, and devises methods to evaluate safety progress.
- Establishing, implementing, and maintaining all Environmental and Safety Management systems in accordance with ISO 14001/ISO 18001, reporting to top management on performance, and recommend improvements.
- Serving as the interface between local, state, and federal regulatory agencies, corporate and any insurance carrier representatives in order to ensure plant compliance.
- Managing plant’s environmental and OSHA regulatory reporting and record keeping requirements.
- Creating and managing budgets for HSE activities including consulting and testing, waste removal, safety equipment, safety recognition activities, etc.
- Leading investigations on environmental non-compliance, safety non-compliance, and root cause incidents and provide urgent response to operational issues.
- Leading implementations and use of team implemented problem solving.
- Conducting site audits and evaluating plant’s compliance with environmental regulations and identify areas of improvements.
- Implementing environmental solutions and drive changes in manufacturing processes/systems that lead to reduction in environmental waste streams.
- Managing worker’s compensation claims.
- Leading safety, HSE, and awareness program trainings.
- Performing other tasks, duties or special projects as directed.

- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software, preference to AutoCAD and Inventor
- Familiarity with statistical analysis and software (Minitab / Cpk & Ppk)
Communication Skills:
- Possess strong team, leadership, and interpersonal skills enabling you to work with the full range of employees at the manufacturing site.
- Ability to organize data into presentations for the team members and management.
- Ability to generate operator instruction sheets, quality alerts, and clear communication forms.
- Ability to concisely condense complicated processes and data into a clear message for company decisions.
Problem Solving Skills:
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish factual points, and communicate analytical decisions to the team.
- Must possess a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to work through hands-on troubleshooting (mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical) with operators and maintenance technicians.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Safety, or a comparable degree required. May consider combination of degree and extensive experience.
- 2-3 years experience within the manufacturing industry
- CSP Certification desired but not required
