We are currently seeking an HSE Coordinator to support a manufacturing facility in Ogden, UT.
This position will work closely with the HSE Manager, employees, supervisors, contractors, maintenance, and site leadership to support health, safety, and environmental programs.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on HSE experience within a manufacturing environment, with direct experience supporting both manufacturing safety programs and environmental compliance requirements. Candidates should be comfortable spending time on the production floor identifying hazards, conducting inspections, supporting investigations, interacting with employees and supervisors, and maintaining safety and environmental documentation.

- Manufacturing safety / HSE experience
- Environmental compliance in a manufacturing or industrial facility
- RCRA hazardous-waste compliance and hazardous-waste management
- Air permitting and air-emissions compliance
- Wastewater and stormwater compliance
- Chemical reporting, chemical inventories, SDS management, and Tier II reporting
- Environmental documentation, reporting, and regulatory recordkeeping
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Confined-space programs
- Respiratory-protection programs
- Industrial hygiene assessments and monitoring
- Hazard recognition, JSAs, and risk assessments
- Machine guarding, PPE, and Hazard Communication
- Incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions
- Spill prevention and response
- Regulatory agency interaction and support during inspections, audits, or compliance activities
Manufacturing safety experience AND direct environmental compliance experience are especially important for this position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct routine workplace inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
- Identify unsafe conditions and work practices and recommend corrective actions.
- Track corrective actions through completion.
- Assist with developing and updating JSAs, risk assessments, procedures, and HSE programs.
- Support Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, respiratory protection, machine guarding, PPE, Hazard Communication, electrical safety, ergonomics, emergency response, and contractor safety programs.
- Conduct approved HSE training and maintain training records.
- Assist with incident, injury, near-miss, spill, and property-damage investigations.
- Collect statements, photographs, and other information needed for investigations.
- Support root-cause analysis and corrective-action follow-up.
- Maintain incident records, inspection reports, corrective-action logs, and other HSE documentation.
- Assist with ergonomic and industrial-hygiene assessments and monitoring activities.
- Inspect hazardous-waste areas, chemical-storage locations, and spill-control equipment.
- Support RCRA hazardous-waste compliance, including inspections, documentation, labeling, storage, and recordkeeping.
- Support environmental programs involving air permitting/emissions, wastewater, stormwater, chemical management, spill prevention, and Tier II reporting.
- Collect and organize data for environmental reports, permits, and regulatory submissions.
- Maintain environmental compliance records and documentation.
- Maintain chemical inventories, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and labeling records.
- Assist with regulatory inspections, audits, information requests, and other regulatory agency interactions as needed.
- Support emergency drills, equipment inspections, and follow-up activities.
- Verify contractor HSE training, certifications, and required documentation.
- Participate in safety meetings, employee-engagement activities, and HSE improvement projects.
- Prepare reports, presentations, procedures, and employee communications.
- Immediately report serious hazards and stop work when an immediate danger is identified.
- Perform additional HSE-related duties as assigned by the HSE Manager.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of relevant HSE, environmental, manufacturing, maintenance, or operational experience preferred.
- Previous HSE experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
- Direct environmental compliance experience strongly preferred, particularly involving RCRA hazardous waste, air permitting, wastewater/stormwater, chemical reporting, and environmental recordkeeping.
- Working knowledge of OSHA/general-industry occupational safety requirements.
- Hands-on familiarity with LOTO, confined space, respiratory protection, industrial hygiene, machine guarding, PPE, Hazard Communication, incident investigation, and corrective-action tracking preferred.
- Familiarity with hazardous waste, stormwater, wastewater, air emissions, spill prevention, chemical management, and Tier II reporting.
- Experience supporting or interacting with OSHA, EPA, state environmental agencies, or other regulatory authorities is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively on a manufacturing floor and communicate with employees, supervisors, contractors, and leadership.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and electronic recordkeeping systems.
- Ability to work independently and recognize when an issue requires escalation.
- OSHA General Industry training and First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred.
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods and wear required PPE.
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least one year of completed college coursework in occupational safety, environmental health, industrial hygiene, environmental science, engineering, or a related field required.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- Relevant HSE, environmental, manufacturing, military, emergency-response, or technical experience may be considered with education.
