    The Pecatonica Area School District is a rural school district located in Southwest Wisconsin and serves the towns of Blanchardville and Hollandale. Pecatonica High School is located 40 miles southwest of Madison and 20 miles east of Mineral Point and Dodgeville.

    Pecatonica High School is a building that serves over 100 students which allows for an individualized approach while still providing access to both career and college ready courses.

    The Pecatonica Area School District is looking for a high school special education teacher to manage a high school special education case-load to start for the 2025-2026 school year. This position will be a full time (1.0) regular contract. Applicants must be certified by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

    Pecatonica is seeking someone with a strong desire to build co-teaching relationships with their colleagues in regular education, as well as someone who is knowledgeable about current and future trends in education including results driven accountability, positive behavioral supports, and tiered/integrated systems of support, and the science of reading.

    Requirements:

    • Must hold a valid Wisconsin state teaching license in cross-categorical, intellectual disabilities or emotional behavioral disabilities

    • Experience and expertise in student behavior management and collaborative problem solving

    • Excellent interpersonal skills to consult effectively with teachers, administrators, and parents, in a variety of settings

    • Ability to write valid IEPs and to follow IDEA procedures

    • Ability to lead and assist staff in using Non-Violent Crisis Intervention for students in crisis

    • Maintain the integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or families

    • Assist and support building staff and parents in the development, implementation, and revision of student behavior intervention plans and functional assessment of behavior

    • Assist and support teaching staff in the development, implementation, and revision of student academic intervention plans and assessment of academic skills;

    • Champion effective instruction in literacy and math, as well as effective strategies for addressing behavioral disorders

    • Collect appropriate student academic and behavioral performance data for determining the extent to which student IEP goals and objectives are achieved
