Job Title: Human Resources Specialist
Location: Tinton Falls, New Jersey


Type: Temporary, 2-3 months (maternity coverage)
Compensation: $33.00 - $35.00 per hour
Contractor Work Model: Onsite (Tinton Falls, NJ) Note: Remote work is not available.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Human Resources professional to provide temporary support during a maternity leave (this may lead more long term work). This role is a great opportunity for an early to mid-career HR professional with 2+ years of HR experience, particularly someone who has had exposure to employee leave administration.

The position will work closely with the Head of Human Resources and two other HR team members, with a primary focus on supporting employees throughout the leave process, maintaining accurate documentation, and providing day-to-day HR support.

Human Resources Specialist Required Qualifications:

  • Assist with the administration of employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, NJFLA, FLI, TDI, and related programs.
  • Communicate with employees regarding leave requests, required documentation, deadlines, and return-to-work information.
  • Maintain accurate and organized employee and leave records.
  • Assist with employment verifications and unemployment claims.
  • Respond to routine employee HR questions and escalate more complex issues when needed.
  • Provide administrative support related to employee relations and performance matters.
  • Help ensure HR documentation is complete and handled confidentially.
  • Support the HR team with other day-to-day HR needs as they arise.
  • Provide HR support to a field-based workforce.
Human Resources Specialist Required Qualifications:
  • 2+ year of experience in Human Resources, preferably with some experience supporting employee leaves or HR administration.
  • Basic understanding of FMLA and/or other leave programs; experience with NJ leave programs is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to keep employee records organized.
  • Comfortable communicating with employees and managers regarding HR-related questions.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable working independently while also being part of a small HR team.
  • Experience with unemployment claims or employment verifications is a plus.
  • Union experience is a plus, but not required.

Human Resources Specialist Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related is highly preferred but may not be required in lieu of direct experience.
  • Experience in construction, transportation, or similar field-based industries
  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) a plus
