    Job Opportunity: HR Specialist

    As KAAPA’s HR Specialist, you will help create a positive employee experience from recruitment and onboarding through benefits, training, and ongoing support. This position offers the opportunity to build broad HR expertise, work closely with leaders and employees, and contribute to a growing Nebraska-based company that plays an important role in the state’s agricultural economy.  This position is ideal for an organized, approachable professional who can balance confidential employee matters with detailed administrative work and cross-site support.
                                                                                   
    Job Responsibilities:
    • Coordinate learning and development programs, training options, assignments, tracking, and employee communications.                                                                                            
    • Support recruiting through interviews, career fairs, candidate coordination, and related hiring activities.
    • Deliver a smooth onboarding experience, including new-hire paperwork, I-9s, HRIS tasks, intern onboarding, and site coordination.                                                                                                            
    • Administer benefit changes, open enrollment activities, employee benefit questions, reimbursements, and related compliance documentation.                                                        
    • Partner with managers on performance evaluations, corrective actions, performance improvement plans, employee concerns, and investigations.                                                                
    • Maintain accurate HR systems, job descriptions, role information, records, retention practices, workflows, and employee communications.                                                                                                       
    • Support DOT, safety, workers’ compensation, and return-to-work administration, with periodic travel to company locations.

    What Success Looks Like:                                                                                        
    • Employees and managers receive timely, practical, and respectful HR support.                                    
    • New hires are welcomed, documented, and set up accurately and on time.                            
    • Training, benefits, employee-relations, and compliance activities are well organized and completed to deadline.                                                                                                               
    • HR records and communications are accurate, confidential, and easy for the team to use.                                                                                                
    Working Hours:
    • Monday - Friday: 8am - 4:30pm with additional hours required during harvest and as required throughout the year.

    Qualifications:
    • Two or more years of human resources, employee services, or closely related experience.                                                                                               
    • Working knowledge of onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, HR records, and employment compliance.                                                                                                      
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a service-oriented approach.                               
    • Excellent organization, follow-through, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities.         
    • Sound judgment and demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.             
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and maintain HR information systems.                                                                                                      
    Preferred Qualifications:                                                                                           
    • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field.                                            
    • SHRM-CP, PHR, or progress toward a professional HR credential.                                              
    • Experience with Paycor, learning management systems, multi-location support, or DOT-related HR administration.
