    Position Description

    DEFINITION:

    The Professional Development Coordinator is a positive, collaborative and dynamic individual that is a part of a highly cross-functional HR team. A Professional Development Coordinator develops and manages professional development programs for employees, ensuring training opportunities are relevant, accessible, well-organized, and aligned with the institution's strategic priorities and workforce needs.

    The Professional Development Coordinator coordinates and administers comprehensive employee professional development programs designed to enhance employee knowledge, skills, performance, career growth, and organizational effectiveness. The position assesses training needs, develops and coordinates learning opportunities, manages professional development records and reporting, evaluates program effectiveness, and collaborates with departments and leadership to ensure professional development initiatives align with the College's strategic priorities and workforce needs.

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

    • Receives supervision from the Director of Human Resources.
    • Does not supervise employees

    Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

    ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTION STATEMENTS:

    Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

    Essential Functions:

    • Maintains and troubleshoots the professional development registration system internal professional development website, HR Compliance Training and LinkedIn Learning
    • Acts as system administrator for the online training systems and training reservation system
    • Responds to inquiries related to professional development leadership and HR Compliance Training
    • Coordinates year-round staff professional development and leadership activities and training
    • Facilitates the operations of professional development and leadership initiatives and designated committees through effective coordination and execution
    • Maintains a schedule of professional development and leadership activities and communicates appropriate details to facilitators.
    • Recruits internal and external presenters for staff training
    • Administrator for LMS (Learning Management System) and collegewide professional development for staff and faculty.
    • Coordinates various training sessions, workshops and classes for employees, individually or in groups on the CFCC Professional Development page. Facilitates, and assesses customized, in house training programs working collaboratively with college departments to deliver innovative training programs that meet the College's needs on key HR compliance topics and/or supervisory areas as needed
    • Participates or facilitates training for supervisors regarding performance management, harassment or other HR trainings.
    • Identify areas where training may be needed for staff and faculty
    • Tracks professional development related event expenditures and maintains applicable records, reporting and documentation

    Other Important Functions:

    • Participate in Human Resources departmental strategic planning
    • Collaborate with other NC Community Colleges to learn best practices
    • Perform other related duties, responsibilities and special projects as assigned.
    • Maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with College administrators, faculty and staff.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Knowledge of:

    • Fundamental principles and practices of human resources administration.
    • Principles of proper file maintenance.
    • State policies and procedures including OSHR and NCCCS regulations and employee benefits.
    • CFCC employment practices policies, organizational structure and classification system.
    • Report preparation and record keeping.
    • Intermediate to advanced technical competency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.)
    • Familiarity with HRIS platforms, Colleague preferred.
    • Able to prioritize assignments while handling multiple projects
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills
    • Flexibility to adjust hours occasionally to meet operating needs
    • Principles of proper file maintenance (paper and electronic).

    Ability to:

    • Collect, compile, analyze, manipulate, organize and summarize various types of information and data.

    • Maintain security of confidential information.

    • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

    • Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations

    • Organization and meticulous attention to detail - to manage multiple responsibilities and priorities, recordkeeping, file management, multitask, prioritize

Analyze, manipulate, organize and summarize various types of numerical and statistical data. Collect, compile and analyze and summarize various employee information and numerical and statistical data.

    EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:

    Minimum Education/Training:

    • A Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field with coursework focused in Human Resources.

    Minimum Experience:

    • Three or more years of direct Human Resources experience involving professional development
    • Three years of experience in event planning
    • Must also have a high level of proficiency in working with all Microsoft Office applications.
    • Excellent diplomacy skills and a high level of discretion.
    • Ability to effectively organize and handle multiple job duties in a fast-paced office environment.
    • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

    Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills:

    • Experience leading projects or project teams
    • HR experience within a Higher Education work environment
    • HR Certification (i.e. SHRM-CP or PHR certification)
    • Experience with Google applications: Google Docs, Google Slides and Google Sheets
