Description

HR Manager (Training & Development)

Location: Redwood City, San Jose, or Gilroy, CA — base location flexible; regular travel to all Party Teller stores required.

About the Role:

As Party Teller grows from 3 stores to many more, we need someone to build our training foundation from the ground up. The HR Manager (Training & Development) will own new-hire onboarding, store manager development, and the training systems that let every store open strong and run well.

What You'll Do:

  • Design and run the new-hire onboarding and training program for all store roles, from Sales Associate to Store Manager
  • Build a Store Manager training program covering leadership, store operations, scheduling, inventory, and customer service
  • Create training materials, SOPs, checklists, and handbook/e-learning content
  • Establish the company's training system: training calendars, certification milestones, and effectiveness tracking
  • Coach store managers on coaching their own teams; observe and give feedback in-store
  • Partner with HR on recruiting, onboarding logistics, and employee relations as needed
  • Track training completion and measure impact on store performance and retention

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of HR experience, with at least 3 years focused on training / learning & development
  • Experience building training programs from scratch — not just delivering off-the-shelf content
  • Retail, hospitality, or multi-unit operations background strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills; comfortable training groups in person
  • Organized, hands-on, and excited to build in a startup environment
  • Must be willing to travel regularly to all Party Teller store locations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English/Chinese or English/Spanish) a plus
  • Experience with seasonal and high-volume hiring ramps

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $100,000–$150,000 per year, depending on experience

Benefits and perks may include:

  • Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance for eligible employees
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • California Paid Sick Leave
  • Employee Discount
  • Performance-Based Incentive Opportunities
  • Training and Development
  • Career advancement opportunities to roles such as Assistant Store Manager, Store Manager, and future multi-store leadership positions
