  • Manufacturing or industrial HR experience supporting an hourly workforce.
  • Strong employee relations experience, including investigations, conflict resolution, and corrective action.
  • Experience managing full-cycle recruiting, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Working knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, payroll/timekeeping, and HR systems.

Overview:

A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a hands-on HR Manager to lead the Human Resources function at its Greenville, IL facility. This highly visible position will support a workforce of approximately 75–80 employees and oversee one HR team member.

The HR Manager will serve as a strategic partner to plant leadership while remaining actively involved in day-to-day HR operations. This individual will play a key role in employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, performance management, payroll and timekeeping support, benefits, compliance, and employee engagement. The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly with both hourly employees and leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Job Duties: 

  • Lead and manage day-to-day HR operations for a manufacturing facility of approximately 75–80 employees.
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide direction to one HR team member.
  • Partner with plant and departmental leadership on workforce planning, employee relations, performance management, and organizational needs.
  • Manage full-cycle recruiting efforts, including sourcing, interviewing, candidate selection, offers, and onboarding.
  • Handle employee relations concerns, workplace investigations, conflict resolution, and corrective actions.
  • Coach managers on performance management, attendance, employee development, and disciplinary matters.
  • Oversee new hire orientation and ensure completion of required employment and company documentation.
  • Maintain accurate personnel records and ensure compliance with employment laws, I-9 requirements, and company policies.
  • Partner with payroll and operations teams to review timekeeping, resolve discrepancies, and support accurate payroll processing.
  • Support benefits administration, leaves of absence, workers' compensation coordination, and other employee programs.
  • Ensure HR policies and employment practices are applied consistently throughout the facility.
  • Monitor changes in federal, state, and local employment regulations and maintain compliance.
  • Partner with Operations and Safety leadership to promote a positive, safe, and productive workplace.
  • Track workforce metrics such as turnover, attendance, and headcount and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive initiatives focused on employee engagement, retention, communication, and HR process improvements.
  • Support broader HR projects and initiatives as needed.

Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, ideally in an HR Generalist, HR Manager, or senior-level HR capacity.
  • Experience supporting a manufacturing, industrial, warehouse, or other operational workforce.
  • Strong experience in employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and HR compliance.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Experience conducting investigations and managing sensitive employee relations matters.
  • Experience supporting payroll and/or timekeeping processes.
  • Previous experience supervising, mentoring, or developing HR team members.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to independently manage priorities and take ownership of the site HR function.
  • Experience using HRIS and timekeeping systems.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
