Description

Description

This is a first-time manager role in title, but it is not a junior role in scope. You will be the HR point of contact for our Austin employee population, owning the full employee lifecycle from the moment an offer is accepted through offboarding. You will partner with managers across every function and you will be the person they call when they have a people question, a performance issue, or a hiring need. The person who succeeds here is organized, calm under pressure, deeply comfortable with high-volume HR activity, and genuinely energized by helping people and managers navigate the complexity of a fast-moving workplace. This role is located on-site 5 days a week, in our Bethesda office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR point of contact for all US based employees and managers
  • Coach and guide managers through performance management conversations, disciplinary actions, PIPs, and terminations
  • Investigate and resolve employee complaints, workplace conflicts, and conduct issues with fairness, urgency, and appropriate confidentiality
  • Identify patterns in employee relations issues and proactively recommend systemic improvements
  • Build trusted relationships with managers across every function, positioning HR as a partner that makes their job easier, not harder
  • Partner closely with the Recruiting team on high-volume recruiting
  • Co-own the onboarding experience for all new hires
  • Run or support new hire orientation sessions, ensuring every employee understands Brivo's culture, policies, and expectations
  • Partner with hiring managers to build onboarding plans that reflect the specific demands of high-turnover roles
  • Provide proactive coaching to managers on how to give effective feedback, set clear expectations, and address performance gaps before they become formal issues
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date employee records in the HRIS system
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws applicable to the US workforce — including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, and EEOC requirements
  • Process employment changes — promotions, transfers, salary adjustments, terminations — accurately and within established timelines
  • Identify and communicate the root causes of turnover in high-attrition functions

Qualifications

  • 3–6 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years handling employee relations independently — this is not an entry-level role.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting a high-volume, high-turnover employee population — hourly, frontline, environments are highly relevant
  • Hands-on experience with performance management, disciplinary processes, and terminations — you have run these processes, not just observed them
  • Working knowledge of federal employment law — FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, at-will employment
  • Experience with an HRIS system — Workday, BambooHR, ADP, or equivalent — at a data entry and reporting level
  • High Urgency & Follow-Through: You close loops, hit deadlines, and do not let tasks fall through the cracks. You must be a “DRIVER” and get the job done!
  • Calm Under Pressure: You will get calls about employee no-shows, heated conflict situations, and urgent manager requests — sometimes all in the same hour. You handle it without losing your composure.
  • Coaching Mindset: You make managers better. You do not just solve their people problems for them — you teach them how to handle similar situations themselves next time.
  • Honest Communication: You tell managers and employees what they need to hear, not just what they want to hear — with empathy, clarity, and professionalism.
  • Operational Discipline: You manage your own workload with the same rigor you bring to HR processes. Your files are organized, your documentation is current, and your follow-through is reliable.
