The Human Resources Generalist provides strategic Human Resources support across employee relations, workplace investigations, performance management, staffing, compensation, organizational planning, and training while advancing District initiatives. The successful candidate is a collaborative team builder who fosters positive working relationships, demonstrates sound judgment, and promotes a respectful and solution-oriented workplace culture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related field and six (6)years of advanced level human resources experience, with an emphasis on employee relations issues required. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Experience using appropriate technology and contributing to the advancement of HR information systems. Proven experience to facilitate/negotiate/consensus build to resolve or mitigate objections (or guide others) to achieve the most agreeable decision. Demonstrated ability to plan, prepare and deliver a presentation on a variety of HR topics. Must be detail oriented and organized. Strong investigative, report writing and analytical skills required. Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are a must.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position isrequired to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role.
Mostly sedentary in an office environment sitting at a desk and operating a personal computer to produce work products.
Licenses and CertificationsTypically holds, as applicable, PHR (Professional Human Resources), SHRM-CP (SHRM Certified Professional), or other relevant certification.
Valid State of Florida Driver's License.
