ContinuServe is a tech-enabled outsourcing firm that provides HR, finance, accounting, and technology services to a portfolio of clients. This HR Generalist position sits within our nonprofit services division, where you will serve as a dedicated HR resource for multiple client organizations operating in the nonprofit sector.

This is not a traditional in-house HR role. You will work as part of ContinuServe's HR consulting team, managing day-to-day HR functions on behalf of our clients, building relationships with client leadership, and delivering consistent, high-quality HR service across the full employee lifecycle. You will have direct visibility into real client challenges and the opportunity to make a tangible impact in mission-driven organizations.

This hybrid position requires client site visits and on-site support in South Chicago, 2–3 days a week.

What You Will Do
  • Partner with client leadership to understand workforce needs and execute HR programs, processes, and initiatives aligned with client goals and ContinuServe service standards.
  • Serve as a trusted HR resource for client employees and managers, providing guidance on HR policies, employee relations matters, leave administration, and HR best practices.
  • Support full-cycle recruitment in collaboration with the ContinuServe Talent Acquisition team, including coordination of job postings, candidate screening, interviews, selection support, and onboarding.
  • Manage employee lifecycle processes including new hire orientation, performance management support, employee development activities, leave of absence administration, and offboarding.
  • Administer HR programs and systems including background screenings, workers' compensation, compliance tracking, and benefits support including 403(b) plans and open enrollment.
  • Support employee relations matters, including participating in workplace investigations, documenting findings, and partnering with the HR leadership team to resolve issues with professionalism and objectivity.
  • Prepare and share HR reports and metrics with client teams, drawing on existing systems and templates to support informed decision-making.
  • Contribute to process improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline HR workflows, improve the client experience, and support operational efficiency.
  • Stay current on employment law and regulatory requirements at the federal, state, and local level to ensure compliant HR practices across client accounts.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 4+ years of progressive HR generalist experience, with exposure to employee relations, recruitment, benefits administration, and employment law compliance
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR regulations
  • Experience with HRIS platforms and HR technology tools
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust across all levels of an organization
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to evolving client needs
