    About the job Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum is an award-winning cemetery with over 500 acres of land featuring wide sweeping green lawns, flowing fountains, stunning architecture, historical monuments, vibrant flower beds, and blossoming trees. We are seeking a full-time Human Resources Generalist to support our Human Resources Department in Farmingdale, NY. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day support for human resources programs, personnel transaction and/or training activities. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in a HR Generalist role in a fast-paced environment that has shifting priorities. This is a fully onsite position. Remote work is not available. Essential Skills and Responsibilities:

    • Serve as an HR partner to employees and supervisors in a fast-paced environment.
    • Provide HR support to hourly and salaried employees, including employee relations and policy interpretation
    • Conduct onboarding, orientation, and training
    • Support full-cycle recruitment: job postings, screening, interviews, hiring, and onboarding
    • Maintain employee records, personnel files, and HRIS data accurately
    • Administer benefits enrollment, leave of absence, and employee programs
    • Assist with payroll coordination, time & attendance, and wage compliance
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws
    • Respond to unemployment claims, verifications of employment, and wage attachments
    • Assist with safety programs and HR compliance audits
    • Perform additional HR administrative and project-based duties as needed

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
    • 3+ years of experience as an HR Generalist or similar role
    • Knowledge of HR best practices, employee relations, and employment law
    • Excellent in managing and shifting priorities, managing multiple projects and deadlines
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills; has the ability to interact with all level and job functions both internal and external to the organization
    • Strong communication, prioritization, organizational, and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
    • Strong ability to work proactively and take initiative
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Products

    Preferred Qualifications

    • HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR)
    • Familiarity with payroll systems, HRIS, and timekeeping software
    • Experience supporting a workforce of manual laborers preferred
