HR Generalist and Payroll Manager

This position is key in ensuring timeliness and accuracy of weekly payroll, as well as administering company benefits. JOB DUTIES:
- Responsible for support of internal and external inquiries, requests and needs from coworkers and the organization.
- Engage in and promote effective employee relations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally and assists as needed with business units and levels throughout the organization.
- Recruit, interview and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings, progressions and promotions.
- Prepare job bids, employment ads and postings as needed.
- Coordinate and record all pre-employment testing requirements.
- Prepare, update and conduct new hire orientation as needed.
- Responsible for compliance with E-Verify
- Collaborate and make recommendations in employee disciplinary meetings, performance improvement plans, terminations and investigations.
- Work with supervisors, managers and coworkers to investigate and resolve employee relations issues.
- Cross-train and provide backup of HR personnel and duties.
- Monitors the performance management procedures and program and makes recommendations and improvements in partnership with supervisors and managers.
- Prepare documentation and maintain employee personnel records as needed.
- Participate in development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and ongoing reports for company requirements.
- Participate in safety incident investigations and continuous improvement projects.
- Train and support current and new supervisors as needed.
- Research, prepare and conduct training for the organization as needed for improved or new processes.
- Ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations.
- Regular, in-person attendance due to necessary teamwork and personal interactive nature of this position.
- Additional duties and projects as assigned.
- Process weekly payroll for 200+ employees across multiple states.
- Maintain accurate payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and pay changes.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulation. Partner with team for internal and external audits.
- Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies quickly and effectively.
- Partner with Accounting to improve payroll processing and reporting.
- Administer employee benefits program. (Insurance, 401K, PTO)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- 3+ years of payroll processing experience.
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- A commitment to confidentiality and data integrity.
- Strong understanding of wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirement.
- Proficiency in payroll software
- Expert Microsoft Office skills, including Word macros and exel
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to resolve problems and collaborate effectively with different teams
- Strong understanding of Workers comp, able to administer claims effectively and coordinate resolution

Office setting primarily, must be able to see to access computer screen, keyboard, and utilize office filing and equipment. At times may be exposed to conditions, such as bright lighting, dust, fumes, noise and high-degree varying seasonal temperatures, machinery with energy sources including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, or other energy sources.
