Description

HR Director

Our client is a growing construction and infrastructure services organization with a strong operational culture, a distributed workforce, and ambitious growth plans. The company is seeking a highly visible HR Director who can operate as both a strategic business partner and a hands-on operator. The successful candidate will be expected to spend significant time partnering directly with operational leaders, field management, and frontline employees while simultaneously driving people strategy, organizational effectiveness, and workforce growth initiatives. Based in West Jordan, Utah and requiring on site presence, the environment is fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and highly execution-focused. Success will require a leader who is willing to roll up their sleeves, challenge existing processes constructively, and personally drive recruiting, retention, workforce planning, and organizational improvements.

The successful candidate will be expected to personally own recruiting outcomes, partner closely with hiring managers, improve workforce planning, enhance leadership capability, strengthen employee engagement, and modernize people processes. Construction, infrastructure, industrial services, engineering, field services, or similarly operational industry experience is considered essential.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Growth

  • Lead and execute recruiting strategies across salaried, hourly, field, skilled trades, project, and operational positions
  • Develop scalable recruiting processes capable of supporting significant growth
  • Partner directly with hiring managers and operational leaders to fill critical positions quickly
  • Improve quality of hire, speed of hire, and overall recruiting effectiveness
  • Develop proactive sourcing strategies for difficult-to-fill construction and skilled-trade positions
  • Build relationships with trade schools, technical programs, workforce development organizations, military transition programs, and industry associations
  • Track and report recruiting metrics while driving accountability throughout the hiring process
  • Strengthen employer branding and candidate experience

HR Operations & Execution

  • Lead day-to-day HR operations across a geographically dispersed workforce
  • Provide practical guidance on employee relations, performance management, investigations, compliance, and workforce issues
  • Build scalable processes and infrastructure that support growth
  • Improve HR systems, reporting, analytics, and operational efficiency
  • Partner closely with payroll and benefits administration teams
  • Maintain a strong field presence and visible leadership style

Strategic Business Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership
  • Align workforce strategies with commercial and operational objectives
  • Support organizational design and workforce planning activities
  • Lead succession planning and leadership development initiatives
  • Drive change management efforts across the business
  • Create HR programs that are practical, operationally relevant, and commercially focused

Leadership Development & Culture

  • Coach operational and frontline leaders
  • Develop management capability throughout the organization
  • Improve retention, employee engagement, and workforce stability
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, performance, and continuous improvement

Within the first 12 months, this leader will:

  • Significantly improve recruiting speed and hiring outcomes
  • Build a more proactive and scalable talent acquisition function
  • Establish stronger partnerships with operational leadership
  • Improve workforce planning and leadership capability
  • Increase retention across key employee groups
  • Modernize critical HR processes and reporting
  • Build trust and credibility throughout the organization
  • Become the go-to people leader for both executive leadership and field operations

Important Note: This role is full-time, on-site and requires a highly visible leadership presence. Candidates seeking solely a strategic, corporate, or remote HR leadership role are unlikely to be successful. The ideal individual is equally comfortable in the boardroom, on a job site, in a recruiting meeting, or solving frontline workforce issues in real time.
