Location: On-site | Greater Sacramento Area

LHH is assisting a growing multi-state organization who is seeking an experienced Human Resources Director to lead all aspects of the people function, including talent strategy, employee relations, organizational development, compliance, benefits, workforce planning, and leadership coaching. This executive-level role requires a hands-on leader who can drive strategic initiatives while remaining actively involved in day-to-day HR operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Human Resources function across multiple locations.

  • Lead recruiting, onboarding, workforce planning, employee engagement, and performance management initiatives.

  • Partner with executive leadership on organizational design, talent strategy, succession planning, and company growth objectives.

  • Oversee benefits administration, employee relations, compensation programs, and HR operations.

  • Ensure compliance with multi-state employment laws and regulatory requirements.

  • Conduct workplace investigations and manage complex employee relations matters.

  • Develop and mentor HR staff while building scalable HR programs and processes.

  • Lead health, safety, and risk management initiatives.

  • Coach managers and leaders on performance, development, and employee engagement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Administration, Communications, or a related field.

  • Minimum 10 years of Human Resources experience; 12+ years preferred.

  • Demonstrated HR leadership experience with direct people management responsibilities.

  • Deep expertise in employee relations, investigations, and performance management.

  • Strong background in benefits administration and multi-state HR compliance.

  • Experience with recruiting, onboarding, workforce planning, and talent development.

  • Knowledge of workplace safety programs and employment law.

  • Ability to work fully on-site.

  • Strong business acumen, executive presence, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SHRM, SPHR, or other HR certification.

  • Experience supporting organizational growth, expansion, or multi-location operations.

  • Proven success building HR infrastructure, processes, and scalable programs.

  • Strong mentorship, leadership development, and succession planning experience.

  • Background supporting warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or operational environments is beneficial but not required.
