HR Coordinator

The HR Coordinator supports all frontline operations for the Human Resources department, including talent acquisition, payroll, benefits, and team member support. The aim of this position is to ensure all of our team members are empowered with tools that allow them to be successful in their roles and supported as individuals. The HR department at Highway Horticulture is dedicated to providing a safe and supportive work environment, while fostering a culture of respect, inclusivity, and innovation in everything we do. The HR Coordinator will work closely with the HR Manager as we strive to attain these goals. The position will be a mix of remote and onsite visits.

Job duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Assist with sourcing and screening candidates and scheduling in-person interviews for open positions.
• Support pre-employment screening, onboarding, and new-hire orientation processes.
• Respond to routine team member questions regarding benefits, PTO, policies, and other HR matters, escalating questions to HR leadership when appropriate.
• Assist with administration and maintenance of the Learning Management System, including enrollments, assignments, completion tracking, and reporting.
• Provide administrative support for employee training, development, and succession-planning initiatives.
• Coordinate equipment, security credentials, system access, and other provisioning needs for team members and contractors in partnership with the appropriate departments.
• Assist the HR Manager with maintaining documentation related to performance reviews, coaching, corrective action, and employee scorecards.
• Provide administrative support for timekeeping and payroll processes, including reviewing records, gathering information, identifying discrepancies, and assisting with corrections as directed.
• Maintain accurate, organized, and compliant team member records while protecting confidential and sensitive information in accordance with applicable privacy requirements and company policies.
• Assist with employment verifications, garnishment documentation, employee records, and other routine HR administrative functions.
• Support company recruitment, inclusion, and employee engagement initiatives as directed by HR leadership.
• Coordinate team member birthday, anniversary, and recognition activities.
• Provide administrative and documentation support to the HR Manager during workplace investigations, including gathering records, scheduling meetings, and maintaining investigation documentation as directed.
• Assist with HR audits, reporting, file maintenance, and compliance-related documentation.
• Complete additional HR administrative tasks and special projects as assigned by the HR Manager or Head of Talent & Culture.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 21 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive employee information.
• Basic knowledge of HR practices and procedures.
• Previous HR, payroll, administrative, or related experience preferred.
• Previous recruiting or candidate-sourcing experience preferred.
• Comfortable learning and working within HRIS, payroll, timekeeping, and learning-management systems.
• Ability to follow established processes, meet deadlines, and escalate issues appropriately.
• Ability to work collaboratively and take direction from HR leadership.
