Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated HR Coordinator / HR Administrator to support the Human Resources team of a growing, innovative company in Houston. This is an immediate opportunity to gain hands-on experience across multiple areas of HR while working directly with the HR Manager and VP of HR.

The company currently has approximately 80–100 employees and operates in a fast-paced, startup environment. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats, learns new systems quickly, and is comfortable taking ownership of administrative tasks while supporting a growing organization.

This position will focus heavily on HR data accuracy, payroll and benefits administration, employee onboarding and offboarding, and general HR operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage employee onboarding and offboarding processes within the company's HRIS system (UKG).

  • Enter, maintain, and update employee information, ensuring accuracy and data integrity.

  • Set up and verify employee pay information, benefit elections, and payroll deductions.

  • Assist the HR team and Finance/Accounting departments with payroll reviews, audits, and reconciliation.

  • Support employee benefits administration, including new hire enrollment, qualifying life events, and open enrollment.

  • Maintain employee personnel files, I-9 documentation, and other HR records in accordance with compliance requirements.

  • Respond to general employee HR questions related to payroll, benefits, policies, and onboarding, escalating complex matters to HR leadership.

  • Identify and help correct discrepancies in HRIS, payroll, and benefits records.

  • Assist with HR projects, process improvements, and initiatives as the company continues to grow and transition into its next phase of operations.

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the HR Manager and VP of HR.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

  • 1–2 years of HR administration, HR coordination, payroll, or benefits experience preferred. Recent graduates with relevant internship or professional experience are encouraged to apply.

  • Experience working with an HRIS system required; UKG experience is a strong plus but not required.

  • Basic understanding of payroll processes, employee benefits, onboarding, and HR documentation.

  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when reviewing employee data, payroll information, and benefits deductions.

  • Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and other administrative systems.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to learn new software, processes, and responsibilities quickly.

  • Excellent communication skills and a professional approach to handling confidential employee information.

What We're Looking For

We are especially interested in someone who is adaptable, analytical, eager to learn, and comfortable working in a startup environment.

Unlike a traditional HR administrative position with narrowly defined responsibilities, this opportunity offers exposure to multiple areas of HR. Priorities can change quickly, so the successful candidate must be comfortable managing different responsibilities and learning as they go.

Candidates who have previously supported a small business, startup, or growing organization may be particularly well suited for this opportunity.

Why This Opportunity?

  • Work directly with experienced HR leadership.

  • Gain valuable hands-on experience with UKG, payroll, benefits, and HR operations.

  • Build a broad foundation across multiple HR functions.

  • Join a growing organization during an exciting phase of development.

  • Opportunity to contribute to meaningful HR projects and process improvements.
