HR Compliance & Payroll Specialist
About the Position
The HR Compliance & Payroll Specialist supports key HR functions with a focus on leave administration, insurance licensing, employment compliance, and payroll support. This role will also serve as a strong backup to the Payroll function, helping ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with confidential information, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Administer the full life cycle of employee leaves, including leave documentation, documentation review, case tracking, HRIS updates, carrier coordination, and return-to-work processes.
Administer multi-state employee leave programs, including Workers' Compensation, FMLA, ADA, STD, and LTD
Administer insurance licensing and compliance, including applications, renewals, audits, and maintaining accurate records
Provide backup support for weekly payroll processing, including reviewing payroll information for accuracy and assisting with payroll audits and reconciliations
Review and maintain payroll-related information, including timekeeping, PTO, bonuses, deductions, benefits, and employee changes.
Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee questions.
Support employment compliance processes, including I-9/E-Verify, audits, EAD tracking, and related documentation
Support benefits administration and ensure employee changes are accurately reflected in payroll
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records
Assist with employee communications and engagement initiatives
Support special projects and other HR initiatives as needed
Position Requirements
1-3 years of HR and/or payroll experience
Payroll processing or payroll administration experience required
Experience with full life cycle of leave administration required
Multi-state experience preferred
Experience with an HRIS/payroll system; Paycom experience preferred
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, and Google Workspace
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Bachelor's degree preferred
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Full-time position
Hours: 9:00 AM-5:00 PM
In-office or hybrid
Normal office environment
Must be able to sit for extended periods
Must be able to type, use a computer, answer the telephone, and perform routine filing
