    Description

    Preferred Candidate:

    Current Spring Arbor University business student (major or minor); preferably completed BUS 325 Principles of Management; BUS 435 Principles of Human Resources; -or- MGT 432 Human Resource Management. However, we are open to considering students who have not yet completed these courses, or from outside the business school.

    Hours Per Week:

    • In-Office (HR House):

    • 8-10 hours per week.

    • Typically, Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays - hours may vary depending on office needs

    • Work schedule is fairly flexible during the WEEK and can easily work with the student's personal academic schedule.

    Duties to be performed for the hired position:

    • Assist with the identification and collation of an online learning and development curriculum for SAU faculty, staff, and student employees.
    • Online research on availability of existing free/low-cost courses (e.g., LinkedIn Learning) relevant to SAU training and development needs.
    • Organize and present research findings to the Chief Human Resources Officer
    • Help identify format and means of communicating availability and access to course materials for end users of training resources.
    • Interact via meetings, email and/or telephone with other SAU program offices (e.g., IT, Marketing, Library) as instructed and needed in the performance of duties.
    • Other duties in support of the HR office as may be assigned.

    • Time Management:

    • Shows up to work on time and when scheduled, accurately tracks working hours, and communicates promptly if there is an issue with clocking hours.

    • Teamwork:

    • Ability to work in a close team environment with HR staff and other student employees assigned to the same or similar activities.

    • Communication Skills:

    • Communicates promptly with supervisor about work schedule issues.

    • Can speak professionally to SAU employees and others when they visit the HR House.

    • Asks clarifying questions.

    • Technology:

    • Comfort and ease with internet search engines and social media to conduct focused research online.

    • Experience with (or willingness to learn) website administration including building out content related to duties assigned.

    • Adaptable and Takes Initiative:

    • Can adapt to changes in schedule, can take on new tasks when needed, and can work with limited supervision in the HR Department.
