Our client is looking for an HPC Systems Administrator to manage and optimize a Linux-based High Performance Computing environment supporting engineering and simulation workloads.
The role focuses on HPC infrastructure, cluster administration, performance tuning, and supporting scientific computing applications. Ideal candidates will have extensive Linux, HPC cluster, InfiniBand, and scientific computing experience with a passion for high-performance technologies.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related curriculum, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A Master's degree may offset one year of experience; a PhD may offset two years.
- 7+ years of experience in an HPC or scientific computing environment.
- Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining RPM-based Linux distributions (RedHat, SuSE).
Position Purpose
- Contribute to the strategic objectives of the High Performance Computing (HPC) environment within the Advanced Computing Technologies department.
- Develop operational plans and strategies supporting Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Simulation, and Modeling Engineering teams.
- Provide technical leadership, operational support, and optimize scientific applications on HPC platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the client's production HPC cluster.
- Support end users running applications on the HPC environment.
- Provide Tier 3 support for engineering workstations and remote visualization systems.
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize HPC systems, batch processing, and backups.
- Perform system tuning, performance optimization, and capacity planning.
- Conduct proactive failure trend analysis and root cause investigations.
- Monitor application execution and optimize system performance.
- Plan and execute system upgrades following corporate standards and best practices.
- Lead HPC administrators during upgrades and outages.
- Evaluate and introduce new HPC technologies and infrastructure improvements.
- Participate in the design and implementation of HPC technical solutions.
- Maintain relationships with hardware and software vendors.
- Provide 24x7 on-call support as required.

- Experience managing InfiniBand-based Linux HPC clusters.
- Experience with high-performance parallel storage.
- Experience configuring and managing cluster scheduling software.
- Experience supporting Linux-based scientific workstations and visualization applications.
- Experience with low-latency, high-bandwidth HPC interconnects.
