OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

A Housing Specialist 4 is responsible for maintaining a housing program with integrity and fairness. This position includes a wide range of responsibilities from screening applications and record keeping to independent case management and program compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of experience in administrative services, housing management, real estate, or social services.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Interviews and advise applicants seeking admission to the housing program and counsels tenants to ensure compliance with tenant occupancy regulations.

  • Verifies income and housing status

  • Make computations to determine eligibility and recertification

  • Maintain computerized records and databases on client and housing authority information

  • Answer questions and give information related to housing programs

  • Certifies eligibility of applicants and assigns them to proper housing

  • May prepare application on behalf of applicants; review all documents required of applicants, may perform inspection on housing units in the program, coordinate to make necessary repairs with specific length of time and re-inspect unit to assure compliance with rules and regulations

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probational - up to 24 months

Career Progression: This position may be filled as Housing Specialist 1, 2, 3, or 4.

Work Schedule: Work hours are 7am to pm, Monday - Thursday & Fridays off.

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualification and experience.
