About Us

Job Summary

This position supports the daily operations of the Housing and Residence Life Office through administrative assistance, student engagement initiatives, campus outreach, and marketing efforts. This position provides excellent customer service while assisting with residence hall tours, planning student programs, and promoting departmental events through social media.

Responsibilities

  • Answer phones and greet students, parents, and campus visitors in a professional and welcoming manner.
  • Provide excellent customer service by responding to general housing inquiries and directing individuals to appropriate staff.
  • Perform filing, data entry, copying, scanning, and document preparation.
  • Support housing operations including mail distribution, inventory, and office projects.
  • Conduct residence hall tours for prospective students, families, and campus visitors.
  • Assist with open houses, orientation programs, and recruitment events.
  • Assist with the planning, promotion, setup, execution, and breakdown of Housing and Residence Life programs and events.
  • Collaborate with Residence Life staff to develop engaging educational and social programming for residential students.
  • Help prepare materials, decorations, and supplies for events.
  • Create content for Housing and Residence Life social media platforms and assist with maintaining consistent social media presence.
  • Design graphics, take photographs, and produce short videos highlighting residence hall life and departmental events.
  • Promote housing initiatives, deadlines, student success stories, and campus events.

Required Qualifications

Must be enrolled at Gordon State College in a minimum of six (6) credit hours.

Must be Federal Work Study eligible.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and the ability to learn institutional software systems.

Experience using social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, or similar) and basic content creation tools for marketing and communication purposes.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Basic knowledge of customer service principles and professional office practices.

Basic knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn departmental software.

Basic knowledge of social media platforms and marketing best practices.

Knowledge of effective verbal and written communication techniques.

Knowledge of teamwork, professionalism, and maintaining confidentiality in a higher education environment.

Other Information

This is a part time position, up to 15 hours per week.

$11.00 per hour.

Must maintain confidentiality of student records in accordance with institutional policies.
