HOUSEKEEPING/JANITORIAL SUPERVISOR
Position Type: Temp to Hire
Position Hours: 2nd Shift, 2:30PM – 10:00PM, Friday - Tuesday
Position Location: Roanoke, IN
Position Salary: $24.00/hour
Summary: Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in cleaning and maintaining premises of commercial, industrial buildings by performing the following duties. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Also performs janitorial tasks as necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Includes the following, other duties may be assigned.
- Inspect work performed to ensure that it meets specifications and established standards.
- Plan and prepare employee work schedules.
- Investigate complaints about service and equipment and take corrective action.
- Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of facilities in order to determine the type of work required.
- Check equipment to ensure that it is in working order.
- Instruct staff in work policies and procedures and the use and maintenance of equipment.
- Perform or assist with cleaning duties as necessary, which may include:
- Stage materials and supplies, such as tools and equipment.
- Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
- Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms and other work areas.
- Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floor.
- Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
- Dusts furniture and equipment.
- Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork.
- Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
- Empties wastebaskets, and empties and cleans ashtrays.
- Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
- Replenishes bathroom supplies.
- Sets up tables and chairs in auditorium or hall.
- Select the most suitable cleaning materials for different types of linens, furniture, flooring, and surfaces.
Education and/or Experience: Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read general business documents, technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
