Job Summary
A housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, comfortable, and organized environment. This role involves performing a variety of cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and polishing to ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize rooms, hallways, offices, mill bathrooms, scale houses or assigned areas
- Dust furniture, fixtures, and surfaces
- Vacuum carpets and mop floors
- Clean bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, showers, and mirrors
- Dispose of trash and recyclables properly
- Restock supplies such as toiletries, soap, and paper products
- Report maintenance issues or safety hazards
- Follow health and safety regulations
- Handle cleaning equipment and chemicals safely
Skills and Qualifications
- Attention to detail and cleanliness
- Ability to work independently and efficiently
- Good time management skills
- Physical stamina (standing, bending, lifting)
- Basic knowledge of cleaning products and equipment
- Communication skills (basic level)
- Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience (preferred but not always required)
Working Conditions
- May involve long hours on feet
- Exposure to heat, cold and rain
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals
- Work in shifts, including weekends or holidays
Safety
- Follow all area/machine center specific safety regulations
- Wear all required personal protective equipment: hardhat, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc…as required
- Do not enter restricted areas
- Follow all other safety regulations as set forth by the company
